Chris Freilich has been making movies since he was twelve years old, when he started shooting "sequels" to Star Wars on Super8 and VHS. Since that time, both music and cinematography have been central to his life, hence the company name "Virtuoso Films".

Chris has studied cinematography at New York University, the Maine Film & Television Workshops, and the American Film Institute Conservatory. Through these studies, Chris has developed a deep understanding of how to relate imagery to the story being told, and the knowledge that most stories are not best told simply with a series of pretty pictures. Effectively using all the tools and techniques of cinematography to tell a story visually is always Chris's goal, and how he finds his greatest creative satisfaction.

In his role as cinematographer, Chis has had the opportunity to photograph a wide variety of projects ranging from feature films such as the dark drama Chasing the White Dragon to music videos in all manner of genres including some wonderful Italian pop music by Daniele Groff and Enrico Giaretta. He also has had extensive experience shooting for documentary television for outlets like PBS and popular cable channels. His commercial work encompasses project for companies such as Krups, Pep Boys, and Nickelodeon.

Among Chris's recent work is a film entitled The Fighter, a comedy short film about a neurotic Jewish boxer who struggles with his OCD and mother issues more than with his actual boxing opponents. A feature version is in development, with Val Lauren (Steven Spielberg's The Pacific) attached to reprise his role as Jacob "The Mashugana" Rosenthal.

Chris lives in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles, CA.
